The new 4500 tons press
At the Forge Fedriga production site a new 4500 ton hydraulic press for open-die forging is being installed. The structure of the machine in welded carpentry has four push-down type columns. These are pretensioned columns (case and tie rod).
The pressing cylinder, the return cylinders and the auxiliaries for die change are operated by an HP3 hydraulic system with piston pumps and a patented kinetic energy accumulation system with flywheels on the electric motors, which allows for optimal use of the installed power in intermittent processes such as preliminary forging, equal to about double of that installed. The pumps are driven by motors with inverters, so as to guarantee minimum electrical reactive power (power factor tending towards one).
The machine has a striking hammer room with 5 loading positions, a mobile table with position control and automatic locking / unlocking of the upper striking hammer. The mobile part of the press is equipped with electronic position control for dynamic compensation of the elongation.
The project is co-funded by European Union as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
